"Our performing honourable,you have put laughter in our mouth. In the history of representation in Ibesikpo Asutan,we have never had it so good,off course we can stand tall and challenge anyone on this. For this magnanimity and gesture to us,you have written your name in gold and may the good Lord continue to bless you and your family."
Those were the exact words of Mbong Iban Ibesikpo Asutan which was echoed like a chorus yesterday when the member for Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency in AKHA,Rt.Hon.(Elder)Aniekan Uko stormed the women monthly convoke and donated 1.2m for the body to use as revolving loan to her members to better their economic lives.
Speaking at the event, the astute legislator who was warmly received by the women fold and other dignitaries including the political leader of Ibesikpo Asutan,Prince Uwem Ita Etuk said he decided to come to the aid of the women because the agenda and blueprint of the body was lofty and goal oriented.
Elder Uko also hinted that his visit to the body(Mbon Iban Ibesikpo Asutan Asutan)was also necessitated by the women's continuous support and loyalty to the government of the day which according to him was unprecedented.
"My political leader sir,I decided to honour the invitation extended to me by this body because,I have carefully examined their agenda and blueprint and found it to be goal oriented devoid of ill-intention
As we all know,the House of Assembly is on recess, so I would have been somewhere with my family for the holiday,but I said no,let me rather use the brief period and change the fortunes of my people and that is why mine is a working holiday and am happy about it.
Thee money I have given is for the women to use and engage themselves positively and digress from the misconception of making it only in politics.
I therefore charge the women to make good use of the money for their benefit,support the government of Mr.Udom Emmanuel and also strengthen their bond of unity and togetherness.
As long as I live,I will continue to give my people effective representation in all ramifications.That is a promise I have vowed not to compromise with" he assured.
Responding,the President of the body,Obonganwan Iniobong William described the gesture of the lawmaker as unprecedented and one they will not forget in a hurry.
"My member,our member,you have raise the bar of representation in Ibesikpo Asutan and no one for now can rival that.
For we to have 1.2m in our kitty courtesy of you when we were even nosing for fifty thousand naira to settle our scores, has taken our joy beyond measure.
The Almighty God will bless you ad your family richly and we promise you that in the next one year,what you have sowed today will produce some millionaires amongst us" She opines.
The political leader of Ibesikpo Asutan,equally took out time to thank the lawmaker for not being a disappointment to those that elected him to office,describing his representation as a worthwhile experience to the entire people of Ibesikpo Asutan.
The elated women could not hold their joy as they chorus the popular song"Nte Enye okut Otu owo Enye atuak ada anyanga"raining encomiums on the Ibesikpo Asutan mouthpiece whom they said has change their lives with the whooping sum positively.
In another development,the Bible Society of Nigeria,Ibesikpo Asutan Auxiliary,Akwa Ibom State also honoured the Ibesikpo Asutan representative with a meritorious award for his encouragement to the body.
The event which was held at the Lutheran Church of Nigeria Messiah Cathedral,Afaha Ibesikpo saw eminent personalities gracing the occasion.
Presenting the award to the member,the Ibesikpo Asutan Auxiliary Chairman,Rt.Rev.E.D.Bassey said the body decided to honour the cerebral lawmaker considering his superlative performance in the AKHA and also for his show of love to his people.
Responding,the Ethics and Privileges chair thanked the body for keeping abreast with his strides and also described the award as the most cherished among the various awards he has received.
"As a christian,this award is the most cherished,because it goes further to confirm that without Him,my existence wouldn't have been meaningful" he affirms.
