World Leaders, FG witnessed ROCHAS FOUNDATION COLLEGE FOR AFRICA In Oweri
President Mohammadu Buhari represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geofrey Onyeama, Ghana President, Nana Adokufo, Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice-President Dr. Alex Ekwueme were among the dignitaries that graced the opening of the Rochas Foundation College for Africa and the 10th graduation Ceremony of Rochas Foundation College held at the Imo International Convention Centre (IICC) Owerri on Friday, September 29, 2017.
The governors of Oyo, Chief Abiola Ajimobi, Kebbi State, Senator Bagudu, Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello and Akwa Ibom State, Chief Emmanuel Udom, were also in attendance, while the Ambassadors of Liberia, Sierralone, Guinea, Congo, Southern Sudan, Ethiopia, Zambia and others were also present.
President Mohammadu Buhari in his speech said that the greatest gift Governor Rochas Okorocha has given to humanity is the Charity he has displayed through his Foundation and identifying with the less-privileged in Nigeria and Africa through education.
The President, represented by the Foreign Affairs Minister, Chief Geofrey Onyeama further remarked, “I salute your vision. What create the world of visionaries are people who are able to dream big and make a change. This is what we see in Governor Okorocha. Your free education across Africa will help to push for a greater African integration. So I expect the products of the Foundation to be agents of Unity and wealth Creation”.
The Ghana President, Nana Adoakufo said the reason for his close association with Rochas is because he shares in his Passion for development through education and his drive for a common vision of making education accessible to every Child irrespective of family or place, adding that Rochas has fulfilled the Scripture as in Matthew 25:40.
He explained that “education can change the fortunes of Africa. It is the equalizer of opportunities. We must all buy into the vision of a United Africa and the best way is through education”.
The former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in his own speech described Governor Okorocha as the most resourceful and focused man of his generation who has continued to surprise him with his visions every day, charging the graduating Students of the Foundation College to be Job Creators and not Job Seekers.
His words “I have come to share in the Rochas Okorocha vision on how to build African leaders of tomorrow so that they will grow up with African perspective, orientation and understanding, culture and integration because by the time we have Students in this School for 5 years, we will be having at least 25 Students from all African Countries. This will be the leaders of tomorrow, they will know themselves across Africa and when you talk about anything about Africa, they will understand and they will be the torch bearers and light of Africa”.
To the Children, he said “You are very lucky boys and girls. You have a wonderful opportunity here, opportunity of hope away from home, opportunity of mothers and fathers that you might have lost, opportunity of friends you might not have gotten and opportunity of greater future. My advise to you is to take advantage of every opportunity that this School will give you”.
He Continued “As the Chairman of Board, I have agreed with Rochas that we will have 5 Children from each African Country every year and Six from Nigeria, one from each of the Six geo-Political zones of Nigeria to balance the Political sensitivity of Nigeria”.
Governor Rochas Okorocha had told his visitors “My dream is to Unite and empower Africa through education. The only language we understand in Africa is the language of poverty and this is what bond me and these Children. I strongly believe that out of these poverty situation in Africa, the great leaders of tomorrow will emerge. I just started what I do not know how to complete but God will Continue to direct me”.
To the graduands, he stated “I pray you keep the Candle on when am gone. I tasted poverty and had sworn to fight the scourge with resources available to him. We have taken five Children from each of the African Countries, who are mostly orphans or less-privileged in addition to the over fifteen thousand Children already in the Rochas Foundation Colleges across the nation”.

A'Ibom SSG set to resign ...As Akpabio's pressure heightens for retention
By UduakAbasi Ikpat
Fillers from the hilltop mansion of Akwa Ibom State have it that the Secretary to the State Government, Sir, Ettekamba Umoren is at the verge of tendering his resignation letter to the Chief Executive of the State, Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel.
Government sources have said that Umoren is under intense pressure of resigning owing to severe derision which he has suffered of recently from top government functionaries said to be the right hand men of the Governor.
According to close sources, Ettekamba Umoren has endured contemptuous treatment from a team of powerful Commissioners and Government personnel led by the Commissioner for Works, Ephraim Inyang-Eyen who have taken over his official duties, chasing him out completely.
This reporter gathered that since Umoren had been the only eye of former Governor Godswill Akpabio who needed to watch the developments of government for his interest, it was a thought out plan to scheme out the SSG through diversion of duties to other authorities.
The source stressed that most responsibilities statutorily supposed to be executed by the office of the SSG were now being shifted to others who are working closely with the Governor to dislodge the Akpabio dynasty and assume full control of the system.
"The system is very dicey at the moment. All those who were strategically positioned by former Governor Godswill Akpabio have been gradually rendered useless. The link is totally cut off and for sure, the Governor wants to destroy the Akpabio structure so as to take full control.
"The worst part of it is that, the SSG no longer have access to Memos. As it stands now, the Governor has robbed the SSG of his juicy office. He now uses his brother, Ephraim Inyang-Eyen as a coordinating officer who is in charge of everything. He decides who gets what and does what. The SSG is only existing by name. He is just there as a figure head while the Dean of Commissioners becomes the Commander General of the Udom cabinet."
The source maintained that Ettekamba Umoren was ready to tender his resignation letter, if not for the intervention of Senator Akpabio who overruled that he should maintain his duty post so as to continue to keep him abreast of the developments in the State Executive Council.
"The SSG even wanted to resign if not for Senator Akpabio' insistence. He is very reluctant at staying back because he does not want to be used as a figure head", the source said.

Assemblies of God Church prays for Bafil’s Victory at the Appeal Court
As the Court of Appeal sitting in Calabar decides on who is the rightful senator for Akwa Ibom North East senatorial district on Thursday, September 28, 2017, the Assemblies of God Church, 1 Udokang land, Uyo has prayed for the victory of one their members, Rt. Hon. Elder Bassey Etim.
Praying for the senator elect, Rt. Hon.Bassey Etim on Sunday during his 2017 birthday thanksgiving service, the Assistant District Superintendent of the church, Rev. Bassey Udoh, nobody shall take away anything that rightfully belong to the child of God, urging Etim to go and overcome.
The Cleric said “If that right belongs to you, no man will take it away, God will stand by you till you succeed, whoever stands your way is fighting God and off course you know nobody can fight God and succeed”.
Earlier, the Senator elect, Rt. Hon. Bassey Etim who was accompanied by hundreds of his supporters had told the church that he decides to thank God for his mercies and faithfulness in his life, and for adding another fruitful year to his age.
According to Etim, “I am in a journey through Jordan, but i can assure you, i must get to the destination, it was after the prayers of the church, that the Federal High Court gave judgement that declared me the Senator, and INEC issued me with the certificate of returns, code of conduct invited me for declaration of assets in preparation for my swearing in.”
He assured the people of Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial district an effective representation as soon as he is sworn in to the senate very soon, he promised to donate a coastal bus for the work of God in the church once he is sworn in.
Speaking with newsmen after the church service, the Chairman of Peoples Rights to Life Development Foundation, (PERLDEF) Comrade Ifot Nathaniel Ifot commended the leadership of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP at the national level for withdrawing the appeal they filed against the sacked of Mr Bassey Albert Akpan, noting that the party leadership has toed the part of justice, because Akpan did not have any business in the 2014 PDP senatorial primaries in Akwa Ibom North East.
Ifot urged the leadership of the Nigerian senate to take a cue from PDP and swear in the rightful person that won the PDP primaries for Akwa Ibom North East and the general election, which is Elder Bassey Etim.
He said Senate President, Abubakar Saraki has no the justifiable reason not to swear in Etim, because he has met all the qualification for swearing in as a senator, and warned him from allowing impostor, Mr Bassey Albert Akpan to continue to parade himself as the senator.
In a related development, the campaign director of Elder Bassey Etim, Elder Idoreyin Jacot has described the senator elect, Rt. Bassey Etim as man who has all it takes to give the people of Akwa Ibom North East senatorial district the best representation they deserved.
Jacot who doubles as the Chairman of Akwa Ibom North East PDP Elders Forum said the achievements of Etim while in the House of Representatives speaks volume about his capability, hinting that the people of the constituency are eager for a good and effective representation.
The Federal High Court, Uyo had on February 27, 2017 sacked former senator Bassey Albert Akpan and order the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC to withdraw the certificate of return from him and present a fresh certificate of returns to Etim, which INEC has already complied, and the leadership of senate to immediately swear in Elder Bassey Etim as the rightful senator.

Shocking: What A Young Engineer Told The World About Akwa Ibom @ 30
As she aged and grew weaker by the day, her children, thirty-six (36) of them, became a cause for worry and concern for her aging body, soul and mind. Some of them forthcoming, others not so much.
But all hope is not lost, for out of her numerous children; she has one special child that has given her more reason to live again.
This very child is unique in her own way. She is not just productive, industrious but also INDEPENDENT. What an amazing child!
She has been a source of motivation to her mother, brothers and sisters, as well as others who have bothered to come from far just to learn from her. Safe to say she has also been a role model to many.
She has been a force to reckon with, owing to the fact that she has what others are craving for. This possession however, has brought about envy and criticism from her siblings, but has also earned her a special love and affection in the heart of her aging mum. Of course she can’t do without it. I was almost tempted to liken this special child of hers to JOSEPH. But as we go further, you would realize that I wasn’t far from the truth.
She is indeed very resourceful as even her aging mother and siblings could depend on her comfortably. Although they fail to show gratitude to her most times, this hasn’t deterred her from withdrawing her benevolence. At some point, she could discomfort herself just to make sure her mother and siblings are well attended to.
Believe me when I say this child is unique. She is a rare gem; I am yet to see her kind. No one has broken her record, in fact anytime one gets close , she breaks another record. No wonder she has been addressed several times as the “JINX BREAKER”. Her real name is so unique, but that I will yet reveal .
The “JINX BREAKER”, as fondly called by her siblings has birthed several children, but cant be compared to that of her mother. She had ten (10) children(all male), five (5) legitimate lovely children and another five(5) illegitimate children.
The first illegitimate child took over on 28th September 1987, and left on 30th July 1988. The second illegitimate son, took over on 31st July 1988, and left on 5th, September, 1990.
Her first legitimate child took charge on 5th September, 1990 and left on 2nd, January 1992. During his time there was tremendous impact. Another legitimate child took over on 2nd January, 1992 and stepped down by 18th November, 1993. He also did his best.
On 15th December, 1993 his third illegitimate child took charge and left on 21st august, 1996. Also, on that same 21st august, 1996 another illegitimate child took over and left on 9th august, 1998. The last illegitimate child took charge from 9th august 1998 to 29th may, 1999.
The third legitimate child could make me feel he is the mother’s replica. He was able to break the mother’s records. Surprisingly, she was nothing but proud of him . He gave the mother a new face of life, although not everyone was pleased with him, specifically, his other thirty five (35) siblings. He was able to observe that so much has been taken from the mother , and he fought for her strategic interest. In the midst of all these he was liberal. Guess what? The mother envied him.
Today his footprint hasn’t been erased from the sands of time. Even his grand mum was proud of him and wished his time never elapsed. But on May, 29th 2007, he bade farewell.
The fourth legitimate child was instrumental in restructuring, transforming and exposing his people. He gave his people an edge in the society.
The fifth legitimate child could beat our imagination. He has the capacity to make something out of nothing. He is resilient.
What sweeps me off my feet is the fact that he is just two years old in power. More reason one would ask questions like: Is he from this planet? How come he does his own things so differently especially at a time like this, and will always achieve tangible result? Where was he all these years? Some would wish we had him when the going was good. Others would conclude there was no better time for him to have come than now.
He has not only given us a new path to follow but has urged us to arise and get something working when it seems nothing is working. Because of him the giant in us have been awakened, we have been able to exercise our hidden talents and become more useful to ourselves and the society at large.
Because of him, we have risen to the faith of greatness!
We have risen to the faith that with God everything is possible!
We have risen to the faith that Akwa Ibom was created by God out of greatness!
We have risen to the faith that as a people, we can move beyond ethnicity, biases, religion, and gender!
We have risen to the faith of our resources, beyond what others see, human and intellectual!
We have risen to chart a new course for us, our children and the generation of Akwa Ibomites unborn!
We have risen to the faith that we shall be counted as great people of a great state with great minds!
We have risen to the faith that these possibilities and many more.
We have risen to the faith that Akwa Ibom was created to be great!

Nsukara Offot Village Decries Poor Infrastructural Facilities ... Commends Udom For Political Stability
Admin.
The village head elect of Nsukara Offot village, Venerable (Sir) Eyo Asuquo Essien has called on the Akwa Ibom state government to address the issues of gully erosion, and poor road infrastructure which has caused a lot of disasters in the area.
Venerable Essien made the call while interacting with journalists in his palace on the 30th anniversary of the state.
He applauded Governor Udom Emmanuel for maintaining a conducive political atmosphere in the state, describing him as a great leader and peacemaker.
The village head elect also lauded past leaders in the state for their strides in developing the state and smooth transition which has keep the state far more higher than the existing ones in the country.
He also called on the management of the university of Uyo to show good community relations by employing indigenes of Nsukara Offot, as well as giving scholarship and admission to students in the area.
He also cautioned the university management to respect the 64 per cent hecter of land donated to them by the community for the interest of peace, adding that the school will enjoy a peaceful atmosphere when the village is in cordial relationship with them.
He appealed to the state government and NDDC to as a matter of fact give consideration to the deplorable state of Nsukara Offot roads, noting that the only tarred road that run through Uruan is not enough for a community that has contributed immensely for the development of the state.
The village head elect pleaded with the state government to ensure prompt release of his certificate of recognition to enable him perform optimally in his capacity as the view head.
THE PDP ANAMBRA STATE GOVERNORSHIP PRIMARY ELECTION WAS A SHAM AND COMPLETE ILLEGALITY
PRESS RELEASE - 19/9/2017
As a loyal member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one who stood by the party through thick and thin, my love for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) cannot be questioned. My immense contributions to the cause of the party, most especially during the last Presidential and General elections through the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria cannot be overemphasized. In the same vein, anyone who has a thorough understanding of Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah can attest to the fact that I am a man of uncommon national vision and passion for the development of the nation and general good of the masses, especially the less privileged. It is the burden of the developmental needs of Anambra state and my burning desire to meet and exceed the expectations of Anambrarians that has relentlessly driven me to contest for the Governorship position of Anambra state. However, until constitutional amendments are made, one is constrained to contest for such position under a party structure. In my case, which better party to contest other than the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party I invested heavily and unreservedly in. To my mind, the PDP represents a substantial platform with which I could use to transform Anambra state to an enviable prosperous status for the general well-being of its citizenry.
Regrettably, the recently concluded Anambra PDP Governorship Primary election conducted on August 28th, 2017 was all but a show of shame as it was marred by obvious irregularities, leaving little to be desired and more questions than answers from the relevant authorities and party officials.
At best, to any discerning mind, the primary election was a perfection of a preconceived orchestrated plot by His Excellency, the Governor of Rivers State and His Excellency, the Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi alongside selected cabal members of the several committees for this election set up by PDP to rob well-meaning Anambrarians off their earnest yearning for a candidate and eventual Governor with a robust pedigree and a time-tested proof of love for the people.
On the 21st of August, 2017, we all gathered in our various wards to elect 3 ad-hoc delegates per ward to constitute those who were going to vote at the scheduled PDP Anambra State Governorship Primary Elections which was slated to be conducted on the 26th of August, 2017 but later postponed to 28th of August, 2017. We all did our homework and it was a successful event duly monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the relevant law enforcement agencies. The results were compiled and transmitted to the National Headquarters INEC who monitored the elections.
To my greatest dismay and in tandem with the sinister plans of those who were saddled with the responsibility of ensuring a free and fair ad-hoc ward delegate election and consequently, primary election, the list of delegates were hoarded, starving aspirants of the most important tool needed for the campaign to commence. While waiting for the list from the party, I wrote to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) requesting for certified true copies of the ad hoc ward delegate election they had monitored. This request was granted and certified true copies of the elected delegates were made available to me and I started reaching out to these delegates.
However, things became complicated soon. Barely 48 hours to the Primary election, during a stakeholders meeting chaired by the Governor of Ebonyi State, Gov. Dave Umahi (chairman of the Primary Election Committee), several reservations were made by Senator Stella Oduah, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, Prince John Emeka, my humble self (Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah) amongst a host of others which includes PDP Stakeholder, Elder Linus Ukachukwu, Members of the House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Anohu, Hon. Eucharia Azodo, Hon. Obinna Chidoka and others about the manner in which the ad hoc ward delegate election was conducted by Governor Nyesom Wike and his committee members. Complaints were also made citing the hoarding of the said delegate list even after the so-called Primary Election as the aspirants had no idea if the delegates selected by the Wike-led committee are the authentic delegates to participate in the Primary Election as observed by INEC.
In view of this, all the aspirants but Mr. Oseloka Obaze condemned the entire process and requested that the Primary Election be stepped down as the party was clearly not ready owing to the time the list was made available to aspirants which was the night of Saturday, 26th of August 2017 for an election scheduled to be conducted on Monday, 28th of August, 2017, giving aspirants less than 48hours to tour round Anambra State canvassing for votes.
In spite of the misgivings expressed about the process leading to the election, the Governor Dave Umahi-led committee, acting true to type, threw caution to the wind, completely ignored the calls for the primary election to be stepped down and decided to go ahead with the exercise which eventually ended up on a dramatic note. As a result, four aspirants including Prince John Emeka, Mr. Akolisa Ofodile, Sen. Stella Oduah and Linda Ikpeazu withdrew from the race on account of an alleged plot to impose a particular candidate on the vast majority of party loyalists in Anambra State.
On Sunday, 27th of August, 2017, when the list was published, it was totally different from the list INEC had certified and made available to me. Unfortunately, there was no-one to complain to.
While four aspirants withdrew, I decided to continue with the Primary Election in the face of the obvious reality that I had been shortchanged in order to afford myself the locus to question the credibility of the Primary Election legally and otherwise.
On Monday, 28th of August, 2017, during the Primary Election, their sinister plans started to unfold. It was discovered that the list provided by Governor Nyesom Wike and his committee members through Governor Dave Umahi was totally different from the list certified by INEC. This list was also different from the list which was pasted and given to the aspirants by PDP. Following this flawed process, there were many complaints of accredited delegates being sidelined, replacing them with a new set of delegates. This glaring racket caused by the Dave Umahi-led committee saw a majority of the accredited delegates tear gassed and thrown into a state of confusion as well as disenfranchised. This sinister move caused a heavy distraction in the process and allowed those who were not in the INEC certified delegate list be smuggled in and manipulated to vote for an aspirant who was imposed on them by Peter Obi.
Available evidence has also revealed their insincerity and disingenuity, particularly in the counting of the votes. On one occasion, the lady counting can be heard jumping from 655 to 666 while counting. One begins to wonder how the total votes were still able to sum up to 956 which as they said, was the total number of valid votes cast without producing an excess of 10 votes in the total summation. What is the source of the additional result sheet which Governor Dave Umahi brought out from his pocket (as can be shown in electronic evidence available to me)? These questions have remained unanswered till date.
The most unfortunate part of the whole charade was the manner in which the Electoral Panel which was duty-bound to listen and attend to all complaints associated with the process hurriedly left the venue when I began to make my reservations about the fraudulent process known without giving due audience and attention to my protest. At that point, I believe it was clearly evident to Nigerians that they were all acting a script as Governor Dave Umahi and co. were running away to avoid further embarrassment as I also requested to be given the opportunity to inspect the ballot papers on which the said votes were cast.
It is also pertinent to state that Mr. Oseloka Obaze is not qualified to contest in the Anambra State Governorship Primary Election as he did not get the requisite waiver from the Party owing to the fact that he had just been in the party for 4 months as against the mandatory requirement of being a party member for at least 2 years as enshrined in the party constitution. Former Governor Peter Obi in conjunction with Gov. Nyesom Wike, imposed an unpopular candidate on the delegates. Sadly, an election which was supposed to provide a level playing field for all seven aspirants cleared for the race turned to a dance of shame.
All these represent the greatest act of impunity bearing in mind the fact that the party had began to gain sympathy from Nigerians. It is highly embarrassing that the National Working Committee allowed themselves to be used by a group of people to perpetuate such grave anomalies. Clearly, what happened on Monday, 28th of August 2017 cannot qualify as a PDP primary election for a Governorship candidate to contest the Anambra State Gubernatorial elections of 18th November, 2017.
It is worthy to note that, being a loyal party member, I have adhered to and allowed the internal resolution mechanism of the party do its duty before coming out to air my grievances as I have not made any press statement prior to the robbery and injustice served to me and other aspirants by the National Working Committee and the PDP Anambra Governorship Primary Election Appeal Panel. It has become important for me to voice my discontent at the whole process as the National Working Committee led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi, against their good conscience decided to also overrule the report and recommendations of the Appeal Panel and uphold the so-called Primary Election. As was earlier asked by a group who condemned the elections: "If Osun State could get it right under Senator Ali Modu Sherrif by electing a Senator without rancor, why would Anambra State get it wrong under Ahmed Makarfi? Why must PDP allow the party to die because of Mr. Peter Obi who is the alleged man in the middle of this acrimony?"
The unlawful process that took place on the 28th of August, 2017 in the guise of Primary Election has not only jettisoned the appropriate electoral college, it has also jettisoned the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, the Electoral Act 2010, the Constitution of the PDP 2012 and the PDP Electoral Guidelines as amended. It is a total illegality, nullity, sham and an insult to the sensibilities of every faithful PDP member natonwide, right-thinking Anambrarian and by extension, Nigerian.
In the quest for justice, I submit myself to fight this illegality and injustice for my sake as well as that of anyone who aspires to contest under the party's platform and I hope that justice will prevail in the end. I will, in subsequent media chats and as things unfold, reveal more information on the sham and complete illegality that was tagged a Primary election conducted by the PDP.
God bless the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)!
God bless Anambra State!
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!

Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah
A’Ibom Senatorial Seat: Makarfi-led PDP withdraws appeal challenging sack of Senator Albert Akpan
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approached the Court of Appeal sitting in Calabar to dismiss its appeal lodged against a judgment of the Federal High Court, Uyo which sacked Mr Albert Akpan from the National Assembly and declared Hon Bassey Etim as lawful replacement.
The party which is challenging the judgment of the Uyo Federal high court which sacked Akpan from the Senate for not being its authentic candidate for the 2015 Akwa Ibom senatorial election, said it was not against its interest, hence, unnecessary and ought not to have been filed in the first place.
In the notice of discontinuance of the appeal, the PDP told the appellate court thus: ”Take notice that the Appellant (PDP) hereby withdraws all the processes including the Notice of Appeal and the brief of argument filed by the erstwhile counsel for the party.”
The decision of the PDP under the leadership of Senator Ahmed Makarfi to withdraw the appeal, it was learnt, was in the spirit of on-going reconciliation in the party and its dogged commitment to bring sanity into the party as it prepares itself for the 2019 general poll in the country.
In a riposte, a United Nations human rights and election monitoring group operating as Peoples Right to Life Development Foundation (PELDEF) has commended Senator Makarfi-led PDP Caretaker Committee over withdrawal of the appeal, saying the decision amounted to promotion of internal democracy and respect for court judgment.
“We must commend Senator Makarfi-led PDP Caretaker Committee for taking this positive step in withdrawing the appeal filed by the party against Etim whom the court declared the winner of 2015 Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District.
“It is very clear that the judgement in the case was not against the party as observed in the notice of discontinuance but against the sacked Senator Akpan who has since appealed it.
“Both Akpan and Bassey are members of PDP family. It was expected that PDP should not have filed such appeal in a matter between two members, especially after the court had entered its pronouncements on issues submitted before it. If at all, the party was supposed to ensure the swearing in of Etim as a Senator in obeisance to the court order,” PELDEF added.
Recalled that a Federal High Court sitting in Uyo had on February 27, 2017, in a judgment, sacked Mr Bassey Albert Akpan from the National Assembly.
That was after the court found that Mr Akpan was not the valid and bonafide candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which won the 2015 general election for the Akwa Ibom North East senatorial seat.
The high court, in the judgment on a pre-election dispute between a former member of House of Representatives, Hon Bassey Etim and Senator Akpan over who between them was the authentic candidate of the PDP for the senatorial seat, specifically held that Akpan had wrongly and illegally represented the Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District in the National Assembly for 628 days.
The life span of the current 8th National Assembly is 1,460 days, commencing from June 9, 2015 when it was inaugurated, to expire June 9, 2019.
The trial Federal high court consequently ordered Akpan to vacate forthwith the seat for the bonafide candidate of the PDP, Hon Bassey Etim for the remaining 812 days, and refund to the coffer of the National Assembly, within 90 days, all monies he had collected by way of salary and allowances for the 628 days during which he illegally occupied the seat in the senate.
Besides, the court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to retrieve the certificate of return earlier issued to Akpan and issue a fresh one to the newly declared senator-elect, Mr Bassey Etim, to enable him proceed to the senate for his swearing-in.
INEC had since complied with the court order as it issued the certificate of return to Bassey Etim.
But the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki had flagrantly refused to obey the judgment of the Federal high court, Uyo which directed him to inaugurate Bassey Etim to begin to perform the functions of his office.
He had said that he had sent the positive judgment of the court to the legal department of the National Assembly for legal advice on what to do.
Hear him: “There’s a process to this and when I get this I always get informed. There are always two sides to a story; I have a senator who says this is the case.
“I referred the case to the legal unit to give me a clear advice on this, and once they advise me, I will comply.
“ I have explained that to the senator that I have no interest; I want the people of Akwa Ibom, which Senator Akpan represents, to have a representation. I don’t gain anything in it.
“I will follow it and I will make it happen,” he said.
But a one-time Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Samuel Omotunde Ilori had dismissed as ridiculous, untenable and contemptuous the refusal by Saraki to swear in Hon Bassey Etim as ordered by a competent court of jurisdiction.
The cerebral judge had said the senate president is not at liberty to seek advice on a positive order of the court.
Saraki had also spurned the legal advice from the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami (SAN) which counselled him to swear in Hon Bassey Etim since there was no stay of execution to stop the implementation of the valid and subsisting high court judgment.
Bar and Bench Watch reports that all efforts by Senator Akpan to get a stay of execution since February 27, 2017 till date, to stop Hon Bassey Etim from reaping the fruit of his legal victory in court proved abortive.
In the meantime, Senator Saraki had allowed Mr Akpan to illegally remain in the senate for another 202 days to draw salaries and allowances after the judgment which sacked him and ordered him to refund all the monies he had illegally benefitted from the National Assembly, was handed down while the authentic winner and owner of the seat, Hon Bassey Etim was kept out of the senate for a total period of 830 days as at today.
2017 IPAC Election: A'Ibom Party Chairmen Fight Dirty... Set To Reject Imposition
Factional members of Inter-party Advisory Council, IPAC led by the State Chairman of National Conscience Party (NCP) Mr. Godwin Umana have vowed to resist any form of imposition during the upcoming election of the body slated for Thursday, 21st September, 2017.
Our impeccable source who is also a member of the faction hinted this reporter that some State Chairmen of Political Parties during their several meetings have vowed that they would only support a Party Chairman who is independent to emerged as the next IPAC Chairman during the election, as it would not be business as usual.
The source who preferred anonymity accused the Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-Party Affairs, Mr. Lawrence Udoide of conspiring with the State Chairman of PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo whom he described as the Father of Inter-Party, and Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Rt. Hon Barr. Ekong Sampson to impose Engr Martins Inyang as the Chairman of the body for a second term.
He added that, he (Lawrence) and his cohort succeeded last year to installed their preferred choice in the person of Mr Martins Inyang as Chairman, saying that the Party Chairmen would never accept such planned imposition again and that, they have mobilized effectively to ensure that their common choice of candidate successfully emerged as the next Chairman of the body during the said election.
However, Mr Umana who is said to be eyeing the position was quoted of being boasting that the party Chairmen should not border about who would sponsored his election as he has many sponsorships who are just standing by to ensure that he succeeds as the next chairman of IPAC in the state.
In his words “I’m the last man standing with the interest of Political Party’s Chairmen at heart. Eradication of poverty amongst Party Chairmen is a task that must be done collectively. Sincerely it's now or never; together we win it or loss it for ever, but let's jointly win it and keep it for good. Godwin Umana for Chairman IPAC "stand for the right even if you are standing alone" Gani Fawehemi”, he concluded.
Meanwhile, information gathered from a crave fine indicated that a good numbers of Political Party Chairmen have already taken unanimous decision and cued behind the aspiration of Mr. Umana, vowing to deliver him as the next chairman of the body during the election. "We don't want an IPAC Chairman that will always run to the SA Inter-Party Affairs to take instructions before embarking on anything"
Labour Party Open Doors For More Aspirations... As Party Talk Tough On Fairness, Justice To All
Labour Party in Akwa Ibom State has appealed to all the aggrieved aspirants from other political parties who were meted with injustices during their party primaries to approach "The one big family party", the Labour Party in the state to realise their dream of serving their people in the respective wards and Local Government Areas.
This assertion was made known by the state chairman of the party elder Utip Etiebet while receiving some aspirants who contested in other political parties but were unjustly denied their mandate on Monday at Labour party office situated at 66,Uruan street in Uyo. The state chairman reminded all that Labour party is the only alternative party in the state operating silently to better the lots of the Akwa Ibomites. He assured the visiting aspirants and their supporters of fair play in the party and urged all to have faith in God and the party reiterating that the helmsman of AKISIEC has created a positive record while he served as INEC COMMISSIONER in Bauchi and other places where the government in power becomes the losers in the poll. He posited that his party believes that with the quality of candidates that the party is filing for local government elections, that soonest, the party as an alternative party will celebrate victory in the local government area elections.
More Trouble For Ephraim Akpan As Ibiaku Ward2 Takes Legal Angle To Stop Imposition ...He Never Knew We Monitored That Primaries- DSS
It will not be business as usual for the former Chairman of Mkpat Enin local government area, Mr Ephraim Akpan and anyone that would wish to engage in stifling, as youths, women, stakeholders and the entire PDP family in Ibiaku ward 2 in Mkpat Enin local government area move to stop imposition of a failed aspirant, Mr Ubon Gabriel Uwem by his former boss, Ephraim Akpan.
In a petition signed by five youth presidents out of the seven villages that make up Ibiaku ward 2 and other stakeholders of the ward, the people insisted that Mr Ndiana Aniefiok Thompson is the councillorship candidate duly elected by them for the forthcoming election in the state.
The people reiterated that any changes made against their choice of candidate may lead to untold crisis in the ward, thereby calling on the leadership of the party to stop the perceived injustice for peace to reign.
Meanwhile, the Global Eyes authoritatively gathered that Men of the Department of State Security service (DSS) were present at the nomination ground following the earlier promise made by the said Ephraim Akpan and his Godson that the election will be rigged in their favour.
According to the DSS in charge of election in the state, Ephraim Akpan and his godson maybe invited anytime soon to explain the reason behind his ill-intension to disrupt peace in Ibiaku ward 2.
It will be recall that the said Ephraim Akpan who parades himself as the political leader of Ibiaku clan is currently facing ICPC N58.5 million charge, which according to the ward leaders has been the highest shame any former political leader has ever labelled the Ibiaku clan.
However, copies of the protest have been sent to appropriate authorities alongside video clips and pictures of the Nomination exercise, as well as the earlier announcement of the winner by the returning officer.

Crisis Rock A'Ibom PDP Chairmanship Primary ...Police Turn Nomination Ground To War Zone As Delegates Stage Protests
It was a show of shame as delegates for the PDP chairmanship primary in Akwa Ibom state staged protest against the decision of the party to blindfold them with unpopular candidates for the forthcoming local government election in the state.
Few local government areas including Itu, Mkpat Enin amongst others that was perceived to be trouble zone were to conduct their nominations in Uyo township stadium where the leadership of the party can monitor.
The crisis began when a different delegate list for Itu local government area was presented against the list earlier presented by Prince Idongesit Ituen who represent the area in the Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly.
For Mkpat Enin, it was a broad day robbery as the returning officer snatched the ballot box even while the House Member, Engr Otobong Ndem was addressing the delegates in preparation for the exercise.
The biggest shock came when the returning officer announced that exercise was conclusive for Mkpat Enin while the delegates were still cueing to vote for the candidate of their choice.
More embarrassment set-in when security officers pulled triggers from directions in the stadium to scare the electorates from protesting.
Of course, several people sustained injury while trying to run for their safety.
Pundits await the outcome of the failed primary, noting that PDP will fall back to their traditional ways of robbing Paul to pay Peter.

Ndiana Thompson Flats Ephraim Akpan's Candidate, ...As Ibiaku Ward 2 Threatens To Dump PDP If ex- Mkpat Enin Chair Imposes His Unpopular Candidate
It was a testimony clearly told in broad day light as members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibiaku Ward 2, Ibiaku clan in Mkpat Enin local government area stood their ground to nominate Ndaina Thompson as PDP councillorship candidate in the forthcoming local government election, against the wishes of a one time executive and transition chairman of Mkpat Enin, Mr Ephraim Akpan.
The party primary which held at Ibiaku Ward 2 centre witnessed thousands of PDP members cued behind Ndiana Thompson against Ubon Gabriel Uwem who scored just one third of his opponent's votes.
Reacting to this development, Mr Ephraim Akpan, a former council chairman of Mkpat Enin local government area vowed that the PDP ticket will be given to the failed Ubom Uwem who is said to have been his personal Assistant during his reign as Mkpat Enin council chairman from 2011 to 2015.
He said the power to install a councillor in the ward was given to him by the Governor and the state chairman of the party, Obong Paul Ekpo, adding that the landslide victory by Ndiana Thompson is nothing but a mere formality.
Responding to the audacious speech of this self acclaimed Ibiaku Ward 2 leader, youths, women and elders of the ward have vowed to dump the peoples Democratic Party if Ndiana Thompson which they duly nominated to represent them is not given the party ticket.
The Ibiaku Ward 2 stakeholders however called on the PDP state chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo and Governor Udom Emmanuel to ignore Ephraim Akpan and his unpopular candidate which according to them do not have good political records to choose or lead the ward.
They pleaded with the leadership of the PDP to allow the peoples' voice count for the interest of peace and tranquility in Ibiaku Ward 2 and Mkpat Enin local government area at large.

Exposed: Eket Transition Chairman, Frank Archibong Defies Electoral Law, Contests without Resignation
Fresh revelations have emerged over the antics of the transition chairman of Eket LGA Mr. Frank Archibong as the PDP nomination gathers steam. This revelation was made by multiple sources in Eket who confided in our reporter that Frank Archibong was yet to resign as at Monday 11th September, 2017.
This our sources say is a breach of the constitution and electoral guidelines which stipulate that an aspirant for any elected position must resign his/her employment and or appointed at least 2 months to the party’s nomination.
A very competent source who lamented her predicament to some Eket Elders said the news making the rounds that Frank Archibong has resigned is fake.
A very principal source close to the Local Government leadership said, the Council Secretary Abigail EdohoEket had corroborated this claim when she complained bitterly on phone to major stakeholders of Ekid Nation that she is still taking instructions from Frank Archibong.
Our sources said, Abigail had said that if Frank had resigned, she would have been the Chairman and that Frank would have equally handed over to her but that, that has not been the case.
She is said to be expressing bitterness over what she is monitored to have described as Frank Archibong’s selfish grip on Eket Chairmanship when he is supposed to have resigned.
Speaking further, our source explained that Abigail Edohoeket had informed leaders of thought from the Local Government that, the head of personnel (HOP) of Eket LGA and herself are yet to see the resignation letter of Frank Archibong.
Commissioner's Wife pays Hospital bill for ailing child
The Wife of the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mrs Regina Charles Udoh, has settled the medical bills of an ailing child in Etoi, Uyo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.
Announcing the gesture recently, during a Monthly General Prayer for women in the area, organised by the Special Assistant to Governor on Social Reorientation, Mr Ekpeno Gold, the Commissioner's Wife said she was touched by the plight of little girl when she received the news and decided to defray the hospital bill.
Mrs Udoh said although the disease was yet to be diagnosed, she was sure the donation will go a long way to ensuring immediate treatment of the young girl.
She advised mothers to always pay close attention to their children for early detection of any form of illness among them and prayed for a quick recovery of the child.
Speaking, the Special Assistant to Governor on Social Reorientation, Mr Ekpeno Gold, thanked Mrs Udoh for her prompt response and described her as a kind hearted mother.
He said people of the area will always remain grateful to the Commissioner's Wife, who he noted, is always ready, to respond to calls for help from people.
To enjoy more of such benevolence, Gold said the people of the area should continually support Governor Udom Emmanuel, Mr Charles Udoh and by extension, the PDP led government in the State.
Receiving the cash, Mother of the child, Mrs Aniekan thanked Mrs. Charles Udoh for the gesture and prayed God to reward her abundantly.
In the mean time, confirmed reports has it that, the child had since been admitted and is currently responding to treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
LG polls: Akpabios’s plot to take over APC expose as PDP Chieftains Get Caught Betraying Party Ahead Of 2019
Governor Udom Emmanuel’s political survival ahead of 2019, is seriously under threat, as Stalwarts from the three Senatorial Districts of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, were caught romancing with the All Progressive Congress, APC Top on the list is former Governor,Chief Godswill Akpabio. Our reporter said the deal to take over APC Structure in 2019 was sealed in a meeting in his residence at Ukana on Friday September 8, 2017. In attendance were PDP State Chairman, Mr Paul Ekpo, the Attorney General of the State, Barr Uwemedimo Nwoko, a Former Commissioner for information,Elder Aniekan Umana , Prince Enobong Uwah and others. our source disclosed that they vowed to place their stooges as Elected Chairmen of PDP in Etinan, Okobo, Uruan, Uyo, Urue Offong/Oruko, Ikot Ekpene, Ika, Essien Udim, Abak local government areas among others . So that in the event of their decamp into the APC, their stooges will follow suit taking along supporters. A former minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Chief Nduese Essien, had earlier made the observation that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Akwa Ibom State will suffer if the Senate Minority Leader and former governor of the State, Godswill Akpabio, defects to the All Progressives Congress, APC. The ex-Minister told Sun and Daily Post quoted in their 14/04/2017 online publication. He said, “... if the current minority leader in the National Assembly ever defects, it will be a strong capitulation for the PDP because he already had a base at the state level. If he defects, he will be going with that strong base..." That base is no other than the Party machinery headed by Mr Paul Ekpo that Akpabio constituted, former commissioners and serving commissioners who are still loyal to Akpabio. In Etinan for instance, Obong Paul Ekpo who is the state chairman of the PDP is not leaving any stone unturned to impose his younger brother , Surv. Cletus Ekpo to avoid any mistake, in Uyo ,we are reliably informed that Prince Enobong Uwa is particularly agrieved on how Governor Udom threw him unceremoniously out of the Executive Council. And is working tiredless to plant Elder Imo Okon as a PDP Chairman of Uyo who will do his bid in APC. Our investigation shows that the choice of Imo was arrived at since he is a member of Qua Iboe Church that Udom's belongs to, that it will be easier to convince the governor to adopt him. ‘We are wondering how he intend to carry out his plot as Enobong is well known for failing election in his ward and even at the polling unit on his street’. A very competent source further disclosed that the Offot Prince has been penned down for APC Deputy slot in 2019 Gubernortorial race or SSG by Godswill Akpabio’s cabal as they are pushing for an Oron man to clinch the party ticket for 2019 election .it could be recalled that senator Nelson Effiong when defected to APC had said that he was like the biblical John, the Baptist, clearing the way. In Abak the story is not different as Elder Aniekan Umamna has skimmed out the Deputy Governor, Mr.Moses Ekpo and brought out somebody who will do his bid. That of Urue Offong Oruko was much easier to execute as their stooge, Mr Umana Effomburu is a well-known APC Stalwart who delivered MR Asuquo Achibong aka Sharp Poison in the last House of Assembly elections. The first person said to have executed his own part of the bargain was the Attorney General who lobbied Abak high Court Judge to declare the Transition Commitee constituted by the governor illegal. The failed plot was to place stooges earlier enough to prepare grounds for them to take over APC structure in 2019 elections.
