The Akwa Ibom Entertainment industry is one sector that has lots of participants across the boundaries of the state.
From Ibeno to Itu, Abak to Oron, Talented Akwa Ibom sons/daughters are doing one genre of music or the other and in recent times, the state has recorded some Couple of successes in the bigger stages of Lagos and even outside the shores of Nigeria.
Back home in Akwa Ibom, How has the Governor, Deac. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel fared with the entertainers?
I know how the governor came in and appointed a young man in the person of David Sirjeant (Uttang Akwa Ibom) as The Special Assistant to the Governor on Entertainment and a few events here and there with the cabals of the PDP entertainment industry controlling the chunk of share.
So what lies our hope in this struggle for a new government?
What awaits Obong Nsima Ekere for entertainers as the incoming government prepares to take over? This and many more are the questions.
Now my answer, with the just concluded campaigns, we have seen a large number of entertainers rally round Obong Nsima Ekere.
This is because Ekere has shown himself to strongly support the industry, and has given his best to see the industry thrive.
As a Governor, we expect that Obong Nsima Ekere will give a massive boost to the Akwa Ibom entertainment industry thereby providing sucure for our young talented artists. Super stars like Iyanya and MC Galaxy confessed that one of our principal, Sen. Godswill Obot Akpabio gave some substantive amount which aided in their breakthrough in the industry back in the day.
Obong Nsima Ekere has shown enough interest that it is clear that we are heading back towards the heyday of Akwa Ibom entertainment. The entertainers are excited - and hopeful that we will once again see the rise of local talent going national and international.
That’s why we in the entertainment industries have decided to join our hands together to support Obong Nsima Ekere.
