A notorious suspected cultist arrested by Akwa Ibom State Police command for killing a Police Sergeant, Victor Akpan and injuring one Sgt Samuel Solomon both attached to Ikot Ekpene Divisional Headquarters.
On the 8th day of October, 2017 at about 0730hrs, a case of Assault/Malicious Damage was reported against the said suspect, Aniebiet Peter Uko ‘m’ 35yrs of age by his father Mr. Peter Akpan Uko ‘m’ at No. 1 Okon Nko Street, Ikot Ekpene. The suspect was alleged to have tied his mother outside their compound.
The team of police investigators drafted to the scene were ambushed by the suspect and members of his gang. Sgt Victor Akpan was killed while Sgt Samuel Solomon sustained injury but responding to treatment.
However, the said suspect was arrested and he confessed to the Commissioner of the crimes. The Homicide section of the State Criminal Intelligent Investigation Department (SCIID) is investigating the case. Suspect will be charged to court for murder, assault, wounding and malicious.
In a related note, Police Command has arrested one Emmanuel Eyo ‘m’ of Oron L.G.A of Akwa Ibom State at Utimanik Hotel, Grace Bill Road, Eket for forgery, obtaining money under false pretense and Impersonation.
The suspect posed as spy Assistant Commissioner, collected the sum of five million naira (N5,000,000) from a contractor in Rock Marine Company at Oron under the guise of providing them with security personnel but absconded.
In the cause of investigation, the following items were found in the suspect possession; 23 fake spy police shirts and 20 trousers, 25 police belts, 27 lanyards, 3 fake SPO’s identity cards, 3 white berets, 6 caps, badges, 9 black berets, 1 officer’s shoe and 3 fake Inspectors’ identity cards.
In addition, investigation also revealed that, the suspect was an Ex-Nestle Oil Security spy officer who worked with them for a period of time and he does not have a permanent resident other that staying from one hotel to the other. Case will be charged to court.
