Labour Party still strong, unshaken -Chairman ...says Esuene's defection has no effect on the Party

Michael Ufot
Sequel to the recent rumors from different quarters of the state about the demise of Labour Party after Senator Helen Esuene's defection, the State Chairman of Labour Party, Elder Utip Etiebet has assured members that the party is still strong, firm and unshaken to win the forthcoming local government elections in the state.
Elder Etiebet gave the assurance while interacting with The Eyes Newspaper team last weekend in his office, Uyo.
According to him, Senator Helen Esuene though was the party's governorship candidate in the 2015 general election, left the Labour Party to the People's Democratic Party where she came from.
He disclosed that all the members including Senator Esuene's ward are still intact in Labour Party noting that Helen Esuene left the party as an individual.
His word "Senator Helen Esuene has left Labour Party to the Peoples Democratic Party where she certainly from. She was our governorship candidate in the 2015 general elections.
She was one of our best material in the party and today, she has left Labour Party to PDP for a higher responsibility of membership of the party's BOT."
"We in Labour Party are of the opinion that she will use her wealth of experience to reposition the party to her lost glory where the party produced 33, 28, 26, 23 & now 9 Governors with majority in the national assembly before now.
As you resume as a BOT member of your new party, we are convinced that you will use your wealth of experience to bring back the party on tract especially on unity of purpose and assisting  the party secure victory in the 2019 general elections and not the downward trend the party is experiencing now.
Please, advice them that political decampment does not add value to electoral victory but performance and honesty does.
We in Labour Party once again congratulates you as the newest BOT member of PDP as before now, they could not have a credible person like a Labour Party person to fill the gap but beware of some persons in the new ship you are about entering." he added.
More so, the Chapter chairman of Labour Party Eket, Mr Jacob Okon, Chapter Secretary, Isaac Udo Sam and Ward Chairman of Eket Urban 4, Victor Ita said that Labour Party in Eket is even stronger than ever.
They confirmed that non of their members defected except Senator Esuene whom according to them was from the PDP.
